Some of the best and worst stories get told through seeds. Seeds are a vehicle for narrating histories of colonisation through the mobility of plants. At the same time seeds tempt us to anthropomorphize nature as the unfolding of life or experiences of uprooting.
»La Palabre«: These are six evenings of decolonial theory and practice in Berlin-Kreuzberg, at the Vierte Welt at Kottbusser Tor, combining discussion and shared food.
"La Palabre" refers to the social practice of public discourse, gathering and conflict resolution in numerous countries on the African continent; the location is usually a baobab tree, l'arbre a palabre.
In its current iteration Field Narratives deals with questions of muteness, monocultures, silences, and rites.
La Palabre is a series hosted by Talking Objects Lab and is curated by Isabel Raabe and Celina Basra.
Field Narratives contributes to La Palabre#2 with an intervention. For this we invite guests to bring seeds along for the evening and to share your story. Seeds you have sown or harvested. Or seeds that have had meaning or an impact on your lives. Or maybe you want to share experiences that turned out to be seeds for renewal in your own life or in your community.
